Q: Do I need a visa to visit Turkey ?
A: Whether you need a visa or not depends on your
nationality. The most reliable source of visa information is a consulate of
Turkey in your country or the website of Turkish Republic Foreign Affairs

Q: Is it safe to drink tap water in Turkey?
A: Turkey practices safe sanitation standards and tap water
is suitable for drinking, bathing and other regular tasks. However,
as is customary in most Mediterranean countries, the
majority of visitors drink bottled water. In some cases, the water may be "harder"
(contain more minerals) than you are used to or it may have an unusual taste,
but it's still safe to drink.
Q: What currency should I use?
A: In Turkey, US Dollars, British Pounds and Euro are very widely accepted,
especially for large purchases. Also, you'll get a much better rate of
exchange if you obtain Turkish liras (whether by changing money or from a
cash machine) in Turkey itself rather than in another country.
Q: What are the check-in and check-out times of a
hotel?
A: Check-in time is : 14.00 pm check-out time is 11.00
am.
Q: I will be arriving earlier/later than the stated check-in time.
Can I still check-in?
A: If your room has been prepares for you, you may check-in
but if it is not we will keep your baggage in our luggage room until your
room is available.
Q: I want to check out after the stated check out time. What should
I do?
A: Pre-arrangement of late check-out is generally not
possible due to the availability of the rooms. We advise that during your
stay you ask at reception if late check-out is possible. Please note that
charges may be applied.
Q: Do you provide a Baby Coat's ( crib
) on request ?
A: Yes, we have a cot and it is free of charge. If you
would like us to put a crib in your room, please let us know in advance,
when you make your reservation.
Q: Do you have non-smoking rooms ?
A: The Galata Istanbul Hotel is fully non-smoking.
( Only allowed on balconies )
Q: Are your rooms air-conditioned ?
A: All of the rooms have air-conditioning with individual controls.
Q: Are there ATM machines nearby ?
A: There are several banks and ATM machines within a short
walking distance, in Sirkeci.
Q: Do you accept travellers cheques ?
A: Sorry, we do not accept travellers cheques . ( because of
the Bank commission )
Q: What currencies do you accept for payment ?
A: We accept € Euros, $ US Dollars,
£ British Pounds
as well as Turkish Liras.
Q: Is there a Television in the room ?
A: All of the rooms have a television with a variety of
international channels.
Q: Do you have a restaurant in the hotel ?
A: No, we do not have a restaurant in the hotel, although
breakfast is served in the Galata Room (between 08:00 am and 10:30 am). We
do serve some alcohol and soft drinks. There are a number of eating places
within close walking distance and we are happy to recommend good restaurants
where you can enjoy rich Turkish Cuisine.
Q: What is the Galata Istanbul Hotel cancellation policy ?
A: Reservations must be cancelled prior to 3 days of arrival to avoid a one night room charge – this applies to standard reservations only the online confirmation process.
Q; Can
I make a booking without a credit card ?
A; Unfortunately - no. Hotels require a credit card number to
secure a reservation. If the guest does not cancel the reservation within
the cancellation notice period and does not arrive at the hotel, the hotel
will charge the credit card for the first night's accommodation. Without a
credit card the hotel risks being left with an empty room, perhaps having
referred requests from other protected guests.
Q; When
will my credit card be charged ?
A; Once we have received your credit card details, we simply pass
them on to the hotel, in order to guarantee / secure your booking. While the
hotel has your credit card number, no immediate charge is made. Payment
details are decided upon by the our guests upon arrival at the hotel. In the
event of a non arrival your credit card will be charged the day following
the confirmed date of arrival. Provided you have not cancelled on amended
your booking with in the cancellation period.
Q; What
credit card details must I send ?
A; We will require the credit card number, valid expiration date,
full name and last 3 digits ( behind of the card ).
